VC Due Diligence Checklist

If you’ve gotten someone to say “yes” to funding your company, that’s a big accomplishment, so pat yourself on the back. But, keep in mind that until the agreement is signed and the money is wired, you’re not home free. 

If your due diligence documents are in order and ready to send immediately after you finish meeting with the investor, they’ll likely have far greater confidence in you. Remember, venture capitalists bet on the jockey more than the horse, so their confidence in you is worth its weight in gold. On the other hand, if you appear oblivious when the investor asks you about any of this information, say goodbye to that check – or even the prospect of it. 

In this checklist, you’ll see documents listed out in categories. Depending on the stage and type of your business, these may or may not be relevant to you. For best results, ensure that you check as many boxes as possible and that the documents are up-to-date, going back at least three years where applicable.
